Promotional Period – 20 September 2020 – 31 December 2020

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. Participation in this Promotional Competition will constitute your agreement to comply with these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, please do not participate. The Terms and Conditions set out below apply to all participants submitting entries for the Mortein “Killing buys for less” Promotion.


Terms & Conditions

  1. This Promotional Competition (“Competition”) is organized and run by Mortein, Reckitt Benckiser South Africa Proprietary Limited, and its chosen promotional agency, including its affiliates, partners, associations, and agents (“Organisers”).
  2. The Competition is open for entry by all South African residents of 18 (eighteen) years and older with a valid South African identity document except employees of the Organisers and its advertising and/or promotion agencies, outlet owners, retailers, and wholesalers that form part of the Competition and their immediate families.
  3. This Competition is not open to any person who within a period of 183 days preceding this Competition has won any Competition organized, promoted, or conducted by the Organisers.  It is also not open to any person who is related to any previous winners (including but not limited to aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, in-laws, etc), or any person who resides at the same address as one of the previous winners (including friends or acquaintances), or who lives in the same property (including communes) or who lives within a 2km radius of one another.
  4. The Competition is not open for entry by or on behalf of a legal entity and participants cannot use the account of a legal entity to enter the Competition.
  5. By entering this Competition, all participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, which will be interpreted by the Organisers and the Organiser’s decision regarding any issue with the Competition will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. This is an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (“USSD”) based Competition. Entry will only be via USSD, all networks supported.  Entry confirmation will be sent via USSD to all successful entrants.
  7. No responsibility or liability whatsoever will be accepted or incurred by the Organisers for any entry that is not delivered, received, or is delayed or damaged due to technical reasons or otherwise. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt nor confirmation of entry into the Competition.
  8. USSD will be charged at standard network rates. By entering this Competition, it will be deemed that the participant and/or account payer has agreed to the standard rates.
  9. To enter this Competition, all participants are required to –
    • buy any Mortein product from a participating store, and
    • dial *120*1980#
    • You will be requested to enter the last 4 digits of your Mortein product barcode and will then be required to follow the prompts to complete your entry.
    • Retain your till slip as proof of purchases dated during the promotional dates of this Competition. The Organisers have the right to disqualify any participant that cannot produce a valid till slip.
  10. This Competition will be limited to the Republic of South Africa and will run for a limited time, from 20 September 2020 to 31 December 2020 (both days inclusive) at 23:59. Entries received after the closing date and time will not be considered.
  11. Prizes

    • The prizes are as follows-
      • Airtime to the value of R 100 000 in denominations of R 5 airtime value (“Air time voucher prize”)
      • 20 000 x R5 instant airtime prizes to any mobile network (“Instant airtime Prize”)
      • 12 x weekly cash prizes to the value of R10,000 each week (“Cash Prize”)
      • 1 x Grand prize, a Builders Warehouse voucher prize to the value of R100,000, at the end of the promotional period (“Voucher Prize”)
    • Participants may enter once per day, however, regardless of the amount of entries, participants will only be entitled to 1 (one) airtime prize per day.
    • The prizes do not cover any other costs whatsoever not mentioned in these terms and conditions of the winner and the Organisers will not be liable or responsible to the winner for any such costs.
    • The prizes will not be transferable or negotiable and may be forfeited or be the subject of a separate draw or be allocated at the Organiser’s discretion to another winner.
    • The Organisers reserve the right to substitute any of the prizes at any time for an alternative prize of equal or greater value should the prize promoted not be available due to unforeseen circumstances.
    • Prizes are not transferrable or exchangeable and may be forfeited or be the subject of a separate draw or be allocated to another winner at the Promoters’ discretion.
    • All prize finalists will be subject to a verification process. Winners will be confirmed only once the verification process has been completed.
    • All prize finalists will need to provide a copy of their South African Identity Document, Driver’s license and/or permanent residency permit, proof of residential address, completed finalist form, valid till slip, and any other relevant documents to complete the verification process.
  2. All prize winners will be determined by random automatic selection draw weekly within the Promotion Period.
  3. All prize finalists will first be notified via telephone. In the event that a finalist is not contactable for 3 (three) consecutive days (3 contact attempts) then such finalist will forfeit their prize and another finalist will be randomly selected and the same process as described herein will be followed.
  4. The Promoter reserves the right to carry out reasonable due diligence to confirm eligibility and may refuse to award the prize to a participant if there is suspicion of any irregularities or fraudulent activities.
  5. The Promoter reserves the right to carry out reasonable due diligence to confirm eligibility and help ensure that the use of any such person in advertising or publicity for the Promotion will not bring the Promoter or any of the Promoter’s brands into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule or reflect unfavorably on the Promotion as determined by Promoter in its sole discretion.
  6. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize and/or disqualify any participant/winner that may bring the Promoter brands into disrepute.
  7. Any dispute with number ownership (such as more than one individual claiming to be the owner of the same mobile/ contact number – verbally or otherwise) will result in immediate disqualification of both the number and the individuals and no negotiations will be entered into.
  8. Competition Mechanic

    • Buy any Mortein product and stand a chance to win a share of prizes.
  9. The Competition, its prizes, and any terms and/or conditions surrounding it may be amended by the Organisers in their sole discretion at any time during the Competition and will be applied and interpreted at the sole discretion of the Organisers. Such altered terms and conditions and/or prize shall become effective immediately after being altered or on such date as may be determined by the Organisers.  No participants shall have any recourse against the Organisers as a result of the alterations of the terms and conditions and /or prize.
  10. The Organisers reserve the right to extend, shorten or suspend the time period of the Competition whenever it should so choose for technical, commercial, or operational reasons, or for the greater public good, or due to a “force majeure” or generally for any reason whatsoever within its sole discretion, on condition that it notifies the participants in a manner that is expedient according to its best ability.
  11. The Organisers reserves the right to terminate this Competition immediately at any stage, whether required as a result of changes in legislation, or if required by any national, provincial or municipal authority, or within the sole discretion of the Organisers for any reason whatsoever. Notice of such termination shall be published on the Competition website or on any other suitable forum.  In such an event, all Participants waive any rights that they may have/purport to have in terms of this Competition and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Organisers whatsoever.
  12. All participants and the winners indemnify the Organisers, its associated and subsidiary companies, and its directors, officers, and employees, against any and all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever from their participation in any way howsoever in this Competition.
  13. This Competition shall in all respects be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa and the participants and winners hereby consent and submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the South Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg in any dispute arising from or in connection with this Competition and/or the price.
  14. All Personal Information of Participants shall be handled in accordance with all the relevant consumer protection laws and legislation and data protection laws and legislation of the Republic of South Africa.
  15. Should any dispute arise in relation to the interpretation of these competition rules, the Organisers’ decision shall be final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
